Yonge Dundas Square management we’re informed of our intentions to protest prohibition Apr. 20. We have a mobile self powered sound system we want to use for 420. Allowing protesters to hear speakers. People wonder why we only use megaphones. The square management prevents us from using more sound because we are protest, not an paid corporate event. Look at the problems Global Marijuana March and Toronto Freedom Festival getting permission for the last five years,  then suddenly it’s revoked.

We’re plugging in our protest this year!

Hi Matt,
I was forwarded your email regarding April 20 and your planned protest.
As was discussed last year, you can gather onsite for your peaceful protest but you may not set up any infrastructure (tents, tables etc) or use any amplified sound without a permit. Our noise regulations are not governed simply by noise levels but by the requirement of a permit for use of any amplified sound. We will be enforcing these rules.
We have a permitting system that does allow for amplified sound, so if you are interested in requesting a permit for an event, I am happy to discuss that option with you. Without a permit however you will have to abide by the rules as created by the City to enable our safe and appropriate operations and for use of the Square by the public.
If you have any questions, please let me know.
